Sophie & Ben – Hornington Manor Wedding

Hornington Manor Wedding
If you’re planning a Hornington Manor wedding and you want it to feel calm, countryside, and properly you, this venue is a bit of a gift. It has that tucked away, rural feel without making the day complicated, which means you get to stay present instead of spending the day being moved around.
Sophie and Ben described their day in three words: relaxed, family and friends, romantic. That was the brief, and they stuck to it.
They wanted natural photos that capture the moment, with their people at the centre, but still space for the two of them to breathe together.
At a glance:
Ceremony: Registrar led, confetti straight after
Venue: Hornington Manor, Bolton Percy
Vibe: Natural, simplistic, easy going
Guests: Around 80
“We wanted our wedding to be natural, simplistic and easy going, like us.”
“It felt like we could just enjoy it, and the moments took care of themselves.”
HORNINGTON MANOR SPRING WEDDING
Sophie and Ben met at work, and they’re the kind of couple who’d rather be out walking in the Dales with their miniature schnauzer, Pepper, than doing anything fussy. So their Hornington Manor wedding needed to feel calm and real, with loads of time around the people they love.
That’s why they booked me.
They didn’t want their wedding day turned into a photoshoot. They wanted someone who could blend in, keep things natural, and catch the story without pulling them out of it. My job was to stay quiet, read the room, and photograph what was already there.
The morning had that lovely mix of nerves and laughter. The kind where you can feel the day building, but nobody’s rushing it.
Sophie cared most about the people closest to her. Time with her mum. Time with her auntie. Time with her maid of honour. Those little pockets of togetherness are everything, because they’re the bits you don’t get back.
And then the reveal with her dad. Just that real moment where someone sees you and their face changes. That’s what I mean when I talk about unplanned photos. You can’t choreograph it, and you shouldn’t try.
The ceremony followed the same energy. Simple. Honest. Emotional in that quiet way. The kind where you’re not thinking about how you look, you’re just feeling it. Straight after, everyone piled in for confetti, and it turned into the perfect mess. Big cheers. Big smiles. That pure release the second you step back out together.
After that, I didn’t need to “create” anything.
Hornington Manor weddings are great for this, because guests naturally spread out, chat, laugh, and keep bumping into each other in different pockets. That’s where the real story lives. The hugs you didn’t see. The conversations you didn’t know happened. The little background moments that end up meaning loads when you look back.
As the day moved on, the atmosphere just kept building. A violinist adding that soft, romantic feel early on, then the band taking over later when everyone was ready to properly go for it. Nothing felt forced. It just happened, one moment leading to the next.
That’s the kind of Hornington Manor wedding I want you to see.
Not a timeline.
A feeling.
If you’re planning a Hornington Manor wedding and you want photos that feel like your day felt, give yourself permission to stop performing it. Be with your people. Let the hugs run long. Let the laughs take over. I’ll be there, quietly catching it all.

Things I get asked about Hornington Manor weddings
Do we need to set loads of time aside for couple photos?
No. I’ll usually steal you for ten minutes here and there, when it naturally fits. You stay with your guests, and you still get photos that feel real.
What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?
Perfect. Most people are. I won’t pose you into something that isn’t you. I’ll keep it simple, keep you moving, and let the moment do the work.
Will you organise group photos?
Yes, but I’ll keep them quick and painless. You pick the must-haves. I’ll take control for five minutes, then give you your day back.
What if it rains?
Hornington Manor still works. People pull in closer, the energy gets warmer, and the photos end up feeling even more like the day. I’m always looking for moments, not sunshine.
We want the day to feel relaxed. Any advice?
Build your day around people, not poses. Leave space. Let conversations run long. Let the laughs happen. That’s where your story lives.
