Hayley & Matt – Parkgate Farm Wedding
Hayley & Matt – Parkgate Farm Wedding

Parkgate Farm TIPI Wedding
If you’re planning a Parkgate Farm wedding and you want it to feel like a proper day out with your favourite people, this place is made for it. Parkgate Farm Tipi Weddings and Events sits in Norbury Hollow on the edge of East Cheshire, with a woodland ceremony spot that feels tucked away, then a clear flow back to the tipis, meadow, and bar for the party.
What I love about Parkgate Farm weddings is that everything encourages movement and connection. Guests drift from the trees to the meadow, from the bar to the fire pit, from the dancefloor to the chill out area, and it all feels natural rather than staged. The tipis are built for a real party too, with space for a big wedding breakfast, an in-house sound setup, and a proper dancefloor.
If you want the quick version of Hayley and Matt’s day, it was exactly what they wrote in their plans: fun, relaxed, heartfelt.
And the venue matched that energy perfectly.
At a glance:
Food: BBQ served on boards down the table
Venue: Parkgate Farm Tipi Weddings and Events, Norbury Hollow Road, Stockport
Ceremony: Woodland ceremony with Cheshire Registrar
Guest experience: Meadow, Woodshed Bar, lawn games, bouncy castle, fire pits
We love the relaxed, fun atmosphere and the fact that it was so DIY, but we could also legally marry in the same place.”

“We wanted everything to feel natural, and Sam just got it. No awkward posing. No staged moments. Just our day as it actually happened”
PARKGATE FARM WEDDING
Hayley and Matt met while living together on a ski season in Hokkaido, Japan, so it makes total sense that they chose a venue that leans into the outdoors. They wanted a Parkgate Farm wedding because it gives you that relaxed, build-it-your-way feeling, but without breaking the flow of the day. Everything happens in one place, so you stay with your people instead of thinking about what’s next.
That’s also why they wanted my approach.
They didn’t want a wedding day that turned into a photoshoot. They wanted someone who could blend in, keep things natural, and capture the day as it really felt. From the moment I arrived, I just slipped into the rhythm of it all. No big announcements. No barking orders. Just letting it unfold and quietly catching the bits they’d want to remember.
The morning had that calm, excited energy you only get before a big day, then it was straight into the woods for a ceremony that felt simple and proper. No performance. Just two people fully present, with their favourite faces close by. These are the moments I’m always watching for. The little glances. The nerves. The laugh that breaks the tension. The reaction you don’t see until you get the photos back.
They also had one non negotiable. Rusty the dog was coming, and he wasn’t just along for the ride. He had a job to do. Ring bearer duties, plus a few photos later on with Chris helping out. It instantly set the tone. This wasn’t about doing things for tradition’s sake. It was about building a day that felt like them, and that’s always when the photos land hardest.
Straight after the ceremony, they went for a confetti tunnel with zero faff. Confetti already on the seats, everyone lined up instantly, and then pure chaos in the best way. I love this part because it’s real energy. People shout. People clap. Someone always throws too much. It’s messy and loud and completely unrepeatable, which is exactly why it matters.
Then the drinks reception took over, and this is where Parkgate Farm weddings really shine. Big open meadow, loads of space, and a setup that makes it easy for guests to relax without needing entertaining every second. Hayley and Matt brought garden games, hired a bouncy castle, and then kicked off the Parkgate Grand National. Two rounds of grown adults riding hobby horses over an assault course.
Ridiculous. Brilliant. And it gave me exactly what I’m always chasing, people forgetting the camera exists.
Later on, we had speeches that felt personal and easy, then food that kept everyone together and chatting, before heading into the woods with the bridal party for smoke bombs. As the light dropped, the fire pits and marshmallows came out, and the whole place shifted into that cosy, end-of-day glow, with the dancefloor waiting in the background.
If you’re planning your own Parkgate Farm wedding and you want photos that feel like you were there again, this is the approach. You don’t need more posing. You need more presence. You need someone who can read the room, stay out of the way, and still bring back the story.
If that’s what you want, have a look through the rest of my wedding stories, then get in touch and tell me what you’re planning.
A few quick Parkgate Farm wedding questions I get a lot
Can you have a legal woodland ceremony at Parkgate Farm? Yes, the venue has a woodland ceremony meadow and couples can choose Cheshire East Registrars or a celebrant.
How many guests can the tipis hold? Parkgate Farm’s two giant hat tipis host up to 110 seated in the day and 150 standing in the evening.
Can you bring your own caterers? Yes, the venue lets you choose your own caterers.
Is it good for games and outdoor entertainment? Completely. The meadow is enclosed and the venue even mentions lawn games and a bouncy castle as options

“Sam made us feel comfortable straight away. It honestly felt like we were hanging out with a long-lost friend, not having a photographer with us.”
